A huge blaze which reportedly began as a brush fire at Reliable Paper Recycling, located at 1 Caven Point Road in Jersey City early this afternoon, has become a 7-alarm inferno with firefighters trying to contain it.   The blaze forced the shutdown of the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail System in both directions between the 45th Street Station in Bayonne and Liberty State Park.

The New Jersey Turnpike is impacted in the Garfield and Bayview Avenue area near Caven Point, so traffic from the Holland Tunnel is diverted away from the Turnpike Extension.  Motorists can expect massive delays during the evening rush hour.

The City of Jersey City is monitoring air quality in the region.
