On Monday evening in Union City, the James Austin Jr. Trio performed at Ellsworth Park, as the city commemorated the importance of Juneteenth, the day African American slaves in Galveston, Texas were emancipated on June 19, 1865.
The free concert featured refreshments and a relaxing setting for local residents to hear some soothing music.
President Joe Biden declared Juneteenth a federal holiday a few years ago.
