Once again, the vibrant Sinatra Drive in Hoboken will come alive with the revival of the highly anticipated Summer Streets program. Residents and visitors alike can rejoice as the city opens its popular, waterfront roadway to pedestrians, cyclists, and an array of exciting activities.
With Summer Streets back in action, Sinatra Drive will be transformed into a pedestrian-friendly haven, free from vehicular traffic. This community-driven initiative aims to promote outdoor recreation, foster a sense of unity among locals, and provide a safe and enjoyable space for all to partake in the festivities.
As you traverse the car-free lanes, expect a diverse range of engaging activities and entertainment for people of all ages. From food vendors offering delectable treats to street performers captivating passersby with their talents, the atmosphere will be teeming with energy and enthusiasm.
On Sunday, July 30, and Sunday, August 6, Sinatra Drive between Fourth and 11th Streets will be closed to vehicular traffic from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Temporary No Parking signs will be posted in advance of the event, as drivers will not be permitted to drive on Sinatra Drive between Fourth Street and 11th Street during Summer Streets hours. Hoboken Police Officers will be on hand to provide traffic control at either end of the closed roadway.
Summer Streets are also scheduled to take place on Sundays through Labor Day on August 13, August 20, August 27, and September 3. The City will track usage during the first two weekends to determine times when Summer Streets closures should take place on the remaining Sundays through Labor Day weekend.
Mayor Ravi Bhalla stated, “Hoboken, like many urban communities, has a growing appetite for more open space, whether it be for recreation, socialization, or simply enjoying the waterfront views with family and friends. I look forward to even more people taking advantage of this opportunity to enjoy this safe open space in our mile square city this summer.”
Mark your calendars and prepare to immerse yourself in the summertime magic of Hoboken’s revitalized Summer Streets program. It’s an event you won’t want to miss!
