Bayonne Police Apprehend Jersey City Man in Broadway Rite Aid Shoplifting Incident

The Bayonne Police Department has successfully apprehended a man from Jersey City, NJ, who was allegedly involved in a shoplifting incident at a Rite Aid store located on Broadway.

The suspect, identified as Peter Jerome, 32, a resident of Neptune Avenue, Jersey City, NJ, was taken into custody around 1310 hours in the vicinity of Garfield Avenue and Merritt Street. Police reports state that Jerome had reportedly fled the Rite Aid store at 1097 Broadway after stealing merchandise valued at $270.27.

When officers located Jerome and ordered him to halt for an investigation, he disregarded their commands and attempted to escape on foot. However, he was apprehended by the Bayonne Police in the area of Garfield Avenue and Merritt Street, leading to his arrest.

Jerome now faces charges of shoplifting and obstructing a governmental function. The arrest by the Bayonne Police Department is a testament to their ongoing commitment to maintaining law and order within their jurisdiction.
