Piero Romano Latin Jazz Quartet: Weehawken’s Musical Elegance
WEEHAWKEN, NJ – As the sun set on the historic Water Tower at 4100 Park Avenue, the melodic tunes of the Piero Romano Latin Jazz Quartet resonated through the air. Known for their unique blend, the group aptly named ‘Class Jazz’, proved once again why they’ve been captivating audiences since their youth.

Comprising four friends who started their musical journey together, Piero Romano Latin Jazz seamlessly combines traditional American jazz with Afro-Cuban rhythms, offering an elegant and soulful experience. Their deep-rooted bond was evident as they played, drawing the audience into their world of sound.
Their performance, stretching from 5 PM to 7 PM, was a haven for the local community, especially for those winding down after a hectic day at work. With the members being of Cuban and Puerto Rican descent, they infused their music with a natural flair and swagger inherent to the genre.
Mr. Piero Romano, the group’s leader, shared the band’s story and inspiration with Hudson TV. “My style is the way I wanted the band to be – classical jazz. That’s why the band is called Class Jazz,” he explained. “After playing classical for so long, I yearned for something more lively, something that makes you want to dance. That’s when I ventured into jazz.”
Hudson TV also caught up with band members Jesus Garcia and Jose Luis Erano. Both radiated enthusiasm for their craft and cherished the warmth of performing in Weehawken. “Live music is the best thing ever,” Garcia remarked. “We’re sharing our art because that’s what it is – music is an art.” Erano nostalgically mentioned their college days, “We’ve been forming this band since the 1990s, and we’ve enjoyed music since our time at Jersey City State College in the 1980s, which is now a university.”
The Piero Romano Latin Jazz Quartet group did more than just perform; they provided an unforgettable cultural experience for the community, showcasing the transformative power of music. It was not only an auditory treat but also a testament to how music can bridge cultures and uplift spirits.
