The first ever, Familygiving Night was held on Thursday at the Edison School in Union City. Sponsored by the Board of Education’s Office of Community Relations, under the direction of Mercedes Joaquin, more than 500 parents attended and has a wonderful experience.
They enjoyed cultural music, dance performances and food prepared by local community members.and businesses.
According to Edison School Principal Waleed Miqbel, the evening encouraged the school community’s diversity and inclusionary approach to education.
Future events such as these will likely take place at school’s within the district.
