Hit-and-Run Leaves Bicyclist Seriously Injured in Jersey City

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that left a bicyclist seriously injured early on Saturday morning, May 25, 2024.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, shortly before 5 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified that a bicyclist had been struck in the area of Garfield Avenue, Gates Avenue, and Seaview Avenue.  Suarez says that responding police officers found a male bicyclist, who was later identified as a 21-year-old Bayonne resident, with life-threatening injuries.  The striking vehicle fled the scene. The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he is listed in critical, but stable condition, as of this evening.

A press release from the Prosecutor’s Office states, “During the preliminary investigation, a vehicle and person of interest were identified. The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this matter.
