Union City, NJ — Union City Mayor Brian P. Stack has publicly disclosed a troubling series of harassment and intimidation incidents, suggesting potential involvement from two significant political figures. Stack’s letter to the community outlines severe attacks he has faced and raises questions about whether Nicholas Sacco, the North Bergen political boss, and Steven Fulop, the Jersey City mayor with gubernatorial ambitions, might be behind these efforts.

In his recent statement, Mayor Stack describes various forms of harassment, including public threats, personal attacks, and an assault on City Commissioner Grulon at Stack’s campaign headquarters. Additionally, Stack reports receiving death threats and alleges that out-of-state individuals have been recruited to further disrupt the community.

Stack’s mention of “the North Bergen political boss” strongly points to Nicholas Sacco, a long-standing and influential figure in Hudson County politics. Given Sacco’s extensive political network and known conflicts with Stack, it is plausible that he could be involved in orchestrating these attacks.

The “individual with statewide ambitions” Stack refers to is likely Steven Fulop, the Mayor of Jersey City. Fulop is rumored to be eyeing a gubernatorial run, and Stack’s endorsement of Josh Gottheimer for governor, rather than Fulop, might have contributed to the current hostility. Fulop’s frustration with Stack’s lack of support for his gubernatorial bid could be a driving factor behind the harassment.

In his letter, Stack calls on the community to judge him based on his work ethic and commitment rather than the “false and disgusting claims” being circulated. He reassures residents that despite the harassment, his dedication to serving Union City remains unwavering.

“These attacks are attempts to undermine the important work I’m doing for this community,” Stack asserts. “I will not be intimidated or discouraged from fulfilling my duties.”

The involvement of influential figures like Nicholas Sacco and Steven Fulop makes this situation even more complicated. As Mayor Stack deals with these challenges, the political climate in Hudson County is heating up. Everyone—from local residents to political watchers—is keeping a close eye on how these developments might affect both local and statewide politics.
