Fatal Shooting Near North Bergen Recreation Center Under Investigation

NORTH BERGEN, NJ — A man was fatally shot this morning near the intersection of Meadowview Avenue and 61st Street in North Bergen, according to authorities.

The North Bergen Police Department was alerted to the shooting shortly after 9 a.m. The victim was transported to Palisades Medical Center but was pronounced dead at 9:40 a.m., as confirmed by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) about a half hour ago.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. Authorities have stated that additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, in coordination with the North Bergen Police Department, is actively investigating the incident. The shooting occurred close to the North Bergen Recreation Center, which has added to community concerns.
