Union City's Summer Concert Series Brings Joy to Seniors at Bella Vista Apartments

UNION CITY, NJ – The Bella Vista Apartments in Union City transformed into a vibrant dance floor last Monday night, August 12, as part of the city’s ongoing free concert series. The event, which featured the eclectic sounds of El Capitan, not only entertained but also encouraged community engagement among the residents, many of whom are seniors.

The atmosphere was electric as some attendees chose to sit back and soak in the music, while others couldn’t resist the urge to dance, showcasing moves that ranged from nostalgic to surprisingly contemporary. This community gathering was a testament to the power of music in bridging generational gaps and fostering a sense of togetherness.

Mayor Brian P. Stack, along with the Union City Board of Commissioners, has been instrumental in bringing this series to life. “It’s about more than just music; it’s about creating moments of joy and connection for our residents,” Mayor Stack commented during the event. The concert series, which began on July 8, has been a highlight of the summer, offering residents a chance to enjoy live performances in various city locations on Mondays and Wednesdays.

The initiative is supported by a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, with local administration by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development, under the leadership of Hudson County Executive Craig Guy and the Hudson County Board of Commissioners. This funding has made it possible for Union City to offer these cultural experiences at no cost to the public.

For those who missed the Bella Vista event, there are still opportunities to enjoy the series. The next concert is scheduled for August 14 at Ellsworth Park, starting at 7 p.m., followed by performances on August 26 and 28.
