With school about to start in West New York, kids gathered in Donnelly Park on Friday to share some ice cream while getting to know local members of the Police Department. In addition, they all received book bags from a local organization.
The first time Ice Cream With A Cop was a huge success, as more than a hundred youngsters got to enjoy ice cream with West New York’s finest, while receiving a free, book bag from the North Bergen-based organization, Supplies For Success.
The idea for the event came from the Police Department’s two local PBA unions. Command was all for it. Anything which can bring officers and the community, especially young kids, closer together, is a win win.
By the turnout on Friday, parents and West New York kids can expect to see Ice Cream With A Cop to return sometime in the future.
