It’s been 23 years since our country and the world changed forever.  This morning in Donnelly Park, West New York officials held a ceremony to remember those who died during the September 11th terrorist attacks in the United States.
Approximately 3,000 people died during the 9-11 attacks.  Four of those were from West New York;  William Joseph Cashman, who was aboard United Airlines Flight #93; Port Authority Police Lieutenant Robert Cirri; Michael Paris Colbert, who worked in the World Trade Center; and Paul Robert Eckna, also an employee in the World Trade Center.
On Wednesday morning, as did thousands of towns across the United States, West New York held a remembrance ceremony featuring Mayor Albio Sires, the Board of Commissioners, police, fire and EMS personnel, as well as many members of the community.
As payers were read, thoughts of that tragic day filled everyone’s hearts.  And praise was bestowed on the first responders who risked their lives in order to save others.
May our nation never again suffer such tragedy.  And may God Bless the United States of America.
