Officials gathered at Liberty Plaza on Wednesday night, as Union City remembered those who died during the 9-11 terrorist attacks 23 years ago.
Union City lost five residents on that tragic day in American history, September 11, 2001, as terrorists took down the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center, hit the Pentagon and United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania.

The ceremony was attended by many elected officials, including Union City’s Board of Commissioners and Mayor / State Senator Brian Stack, Assemblyman Gabriel Rodriguez and State Senator Raj Mukherji. Members of the Union City Police Department and North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue were also in attendance. Approximately fifty local residents attended the ceremony.
