Hospital employees at three Hudson County hospitals owned by CarePoint Health have received notification of pending layoffs effective December 12, 2024. A total of 2,600 employees will be impacted.

According to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) advisory on the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development website, Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital and the Hoboken University Medical Center will see worker layoffs.

The website says CarePoint Health will be laying off a total of 859 workers from Bayonne Medical Center, 843 workers from Christ Hospital in Jersey City, and 900 workers from Hoboken University Medical Center.

CarePoint Health has struggled financially since converting to a nonprofit in 2021.  In January of this year, CarePoint joined Hudson Regional Hospital, formerly Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, to create a new healthcare system, dubbed the Hudson Health System.

CarePoint Health converted to a not-for-profit operation in 2021.
