This coming Tuesday, September 24th, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy will host a Listening Tour Session with senior citizens at the Henrietta Benstead Senior Center in Kearny.  The County Executive will be joined by Kearny Mayor Carol Jean Doyle.  The session will allow the County Executive and Mayor to hear the concerns and needs of seniors and community members.  Staff from Hudson County’s Department of Aging and Veteran Affairs will distribute nutrition services following the listening session.

In a statement Guy said, “As the new County Executive for Hudson County, it is critically important that I hear the concerns of community members and residents, especially our seniors, so that my administration can specifically and actively address any issues they are currently facing. My goal is to make the lives of Hudson County’s seniors better, and gaining an inside look into what they need will help me accomplish that goal.  I look forward to hearing their thoughts on Tuesday, and I’m thankful to our Department of Aging and Veteran Affairs for continually serving our seniors and providing much needed nutrition services each month.”

Mayor Doyle noted, “The listening session provides an opportunity for Kearny senior citizens to voice their concerns, ask questions, or simply attend to hear about important issues facing our community. The core of what we do as elected officials is listen to the needs of our residents and then work diligently to allocate the resources necessary to meet those needs. The food distribution and access to nutrition services is an extension of the resources available to our seniors and we want them to be aware of the services available to them to meet their needs.”

Tuesday’s session will run from 11 am until noon.  The senior citizens center is located at 60 Columbia Avenue in Kearny.

The County Executive is hosting Listening Tour sessions throughout Hudson to hear the individual and unique perspectives of all residents.
