Jersey City Fire on Wade Street Under Investigation by Arson Task Force

Jersey City, NJ – A fire that critically injured a 61-year-old woman in Jersey City is under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Jersey City Fire Department. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, September 24, 2024, at a residential building on 81 Wade Street.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the fire was reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. Firefighters from the Jersey City Fire Department responded swiftly, finding the blaze contained within a first-floor apartment. Inside, they discovered an unresponsive woman suffering from severe injuries. The victim was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services, where she remains in critical but stable condition.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Investigators from the Arson Task Force are working closely with the fire department to piece together the events leading up to the fire.
