BAYONNE, NJ – A 15-year-old from Newark was arrested for robbery after initially shoplifting from a Bayonne Dollar Store. The incident unfolded on September 28th, when the teen first stole items from the store located on Avenue C. He returned shortly after, this time demanding more items and intimidating the store employee by indicating he had a weapon, though no weapon was displayed.
On October 1, 2024, Bayonne Police Detectives arrested the juvenile near Bergen Avenue in Jersey City. The quick apprehension followed a detailed investigation by the local police department.
The police have not confirmed if a weapon was actually involved in the robbery attempt.
The legal process for the juvenile offender will proceed in accordance with juvenile justice laws, which tend to focus on corrective measures rather than solely punitive ones.
