On a rainy Thanksgiving morning, volunteers, many members of Weehawken High School’s PEER Leadership Club, sorted, packaged and delivered holiday meals to over 200 township residents….and they all did it with smiles on their faces.

Mayor Richard Turner praised the volunteers for taking time from their own holiday to do something for their fellow neighbors in town.

The meals were catered from The Greycliff, and included soup, turkey, mashed potatoes, vegetables, bread and deserts.  They were taken to senior citizens and families around the municipality courtesy of the governing body.

In addition to the students from the PEERF Leadership Club, those volunteering this morning included police officers, firefighters from North Hudson Regional and local veterans.

It was a wonderful example of community spirit and giving.

Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and let’s all be thankful for our blessings.
