Former West New York Commissioner Lawrence “Larry” Riccardi has passed away at the age of 79. Riccardi passed away on January 24, 2025. A former educator, Riccardi served as a special education teacher and as an elementary school principal within the West New York school system.
An elected Commissioner in West New York from 1983 through 2011, Riccardi served under Mayors Anthony DeFino and Sal Vega.
For the past 14 years, Riccardi has lived in retirement on Long Beach Island in Surf City, New Jersey.
He is survived by his son and daughter, their spounces and four grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass is scheduled to be held on March 15, 2025 at St. Mary of the Pines in Manahawkin, New Jersey.
