The Union City Board of Commissioners held a Green Acres public hearing on Tuesday night on plans for multi-million dollars worth of improvements at Ellsworth Park.

David Spatz from the city’s municipal planning firm of Community Housing and Planning Associates, detailed the proposed improvements, the first that would occur at the park in 15 to 20 years.

Those improvements include new brick pavers, drainage upgrades, new safety matting in the playground area, new shrubbery and benches.

The city’s Green Acres application totals just over $4.6-million.   Mayor Brian Stack says the city expects to hear a decision on its application by the summer.

He adds that all of Union city’s parks are getting touch up work.  The passive parks, like Ellsworth, are being done in 2025, with the active parks being tackled in 2026.
