63-year-old James T. Reilly of Edgewater has been arrested on charges of distribution and possession of child sexual abuse material, according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.  The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck.

According to a press release from the Prosecutor’s Office, “On Wednesday, April 23, 2025, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of James T. Reilly during the course of an Internet child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation revealed that Reilly used the Internet to view, download, possess, distribute, and share items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children.”

Reilly was arrested earlier today in Paramus and charged with second-degree distribution of child pornography and third-degree possession of child pornography.  Musella says he was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.

The charges against Reilly are merely accusations.  He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.  Prosecutor Musella credits the Edgewater Police Department and New York City Police Department for their assistance, as well as the Norwood, Waldwick, and Washington Township Police Departments, which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
