For the third consecutive year, Weehawken defeated Bayonne to capture the Hudson County Softball Championship.
Played Saturday at North Bergen’s 64th Street Field, Weehawken jumped out to a 2-0 lead, as senior starting pitcher Brooke McHale and her sister, junior shortstop Brianna McHale, figured into a two run first inning, but Bayonne cut the lead to 2-1 on a homerun by senior starting pitcher Catilin Gaetani.
Bayonne eventually tied the score at 3-3 and the game went into extra innings. In the top of the eighth, Brianna McHale walked with the bases loaded giving Weehawken a one run advantage, which they held, as Brooke McHale set down the lady Bees 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning, striking out the final batter, to give Weehawken its 3-peat over Bayonne and another Hudson County softball championship.
Congratulations to head coach Raquel Roder and her assistant coach Nicole Fleck and the 2025 Hudson County Softball Champions, the Weehawken High School Indians!!!
