The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect who’s wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Jersey City on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
28-year old Gerard Rosario of Jersey City is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and certain persons not to possess a firearm.
Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez says the defendant should not be approached and anyone with information regarding Rosario’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345. According to a press release provided by Suarez’s office, “Shortly after 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a motor vehicle crash in the area of Old Bergen Road and Merritt Street in Jersey City. Responding officers located an unresponsive male in the driver’s seat of a vehicle that had crashed into a tree on Merritt Street. The unresponsive male – later identified as Devon Reid, 39, of Elizabeth – was discovered with a gunshot wound to the neck. Reid was transported by Emergency Medical Services to the Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 7:16 p.m.”
The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
