Jersey City Man Found Guilty Of Murder In Double Fatal Shooting In 2021

Four years after a double fatal shooting in Jersey City, a jury has convicted 23-year old, Jersey City resident Omire Rios-Williams in connection to the May 21, 2021 incident.

A Hudson County jury returned the guilty verdict on Monday, convicting Rios-Williams of two counts of murder, one count of conspiracy to commit murder, four counts of attempted murder, four counts of aggravated assault, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.  According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, codefendant, Cooleone McNeil, age 25, of Bayonne, was found guilty of first degree conspiracy to commit murder and not guilty on the remaining charges in the indictment.

A press release from the Prosecutor’s Office states, “Shortly before 11 p.m. on May 21, 2021, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of Crescent Avenue and Brinkerhoff Street. Responding officers located six victims with apparent gunshot wounds. Two of the victims – later identified as Jason Crutcher, 26, and Randolph Black Jr., 25, both of Jersey City – were pronounced dead as a result of their injuries. The four remaining victims suffered nonfatal injuries.”

Sentencing is tentatively scheduled for September 5, 2025.
