With the votes yet to be certified by the County, Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis, age 62, a former Bayonne Police Officer and past Detective with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, is poised to become Hudson’s new Sheriff when the General Election takes place in November.
Davis defeated 78-year old incumbent Sheriff Frank Schillari, who has held the post since 2010, in Tuesday’s Democratic Primary Election.
The current tally has Davis with 53-percent of the votes to Schillari’s 45-percent. Davis had the support of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
Davis will face Republican Elvis Alvarez in November.
