With school starting on Thursday, Weehawken welcomed back teachers on Wednesday, highlighting the successes of ’24-’25.

The morning began with a welcome back to school breakfast, a performance by some High School students followed by Superintendent of Schools Eric Crespo addressing the district’s teaching staff in the High School auditorium.  Crespo spoke of the district’s increasing test scores and 98-percent graduation rate, as well as the number of students heading on college, many of whom to Ivy League schools.  Teachers also had their ID photos taken.

Each of the district’s three schools, with a total expected enrollment this year approaching 1,400, retain the same principals as in ’24-’25.  There were a few retirements among the teaching staff, and several new hires are joining the teaching ranks.  Mayor Richard Turner was in attendance, as were Council members David Curtis, Robert Sosa and Carmela Silvestri-Ehret.

Classes get underway on Thursday, September 4th.
