HOBOKEN, N.J. — A 25-year-old man was arrested on charges of endangering the welfare of a child after a 13-month investigation revealed over 3,800 items of child sexual abuse material on his computer, the Hoboken Police Department announced.
Tyler Wright, a former Hoboken resident who had relocated to Massachusetts, was apprehended following a coordinated effort involving multiple law enforcement agencies. The investigation began in August 2024 when the Hoboken Police Department’s Detective Bureau received a tip about child pornography on Wright’s computer. Detective Jesse Castellano led the probe, which required extensive cybercrime analysis to uncover the illicit material.
On September 8, 2025, Wright turned himself in at Hoboken Police Headquarters, where he was processed on a warrant and transferred to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
“I commend the entire team who worked on this disturbing case, particularly Det. Castellano, who showed professionalism, dedication, and patience throughout this lengthy investigation,” said Hoboken Police Chief Steven Aguiar. He emphasized that while no Hoboken residents are currently believed to have been involved in the incident, protecting the community’s children remains the department’s top priority. “We will continue to do whatever it takes to bring those who attempt to harm any youth to justice,” Aguiar added.
The investigation was a collaborative effort with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Special Victims Unit, the U.S. Marshals Service, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Somerville, Massachusetts, Police Department, all of whom assisted in identifying and locating Wright.
The Hoboken Police Department expressed gratitude to these agencies for their support in securing the arrest. The case underscores the department’s commitment to pursuing justice in cases involving the exploitation of children, even across state lines.
