After a 27-year career in law enforcement, the past 3 1/2 as Chief of the Union City Police Department, Anthony Facchini’s tour of duty ended on Thursday afternoon.
Facchini’s career began after his graduation from the Bergen County Police Academy. He joined the Union City Police Department in 1998, first being assigned to the Patrol Division, and later to the Detective Bureau. He moved up through the ranks, eventually becoming Chief on August 19, 2022.
Thursday’s walk out ceremony was well attended, not only by members of the Police Department, but by various city employees, Mayor Brian Stack and the Board of Commissioners and family and friends.
Police Captain Walter Laurencio has assumed the role of Acting Police Chief.
