With Thanksgiving just a few days away, the holiday season is in full swing.  And that means holiday gifts for friends, relatives and especially kids.

In the true spirit of the holidays, Hudson County Executive Craig Guy this week announced the launch of the first annual, Hudson County Toy Giveaway, a new countywide community initiative created in partnership with the Transport Workers Union of America (TWU) to bring joy, support, and holiday spirit to children and families across Hudson County.

County Executive Guy invites all residents to join in a festive evening of community celebration on Tuesday, December 16th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., inside the Rotunda of the historic William J. Brennan Court House. Families will be able to enjoy a sweet treat, receive a special gift, and take a free photo with Santa Claus as part of this inaugural holiday event.

In a statement, Guy said, “The holidays are a time for joy, togetherness, and giving back. By partnering with the Transport Workers Union of America, we are creating an event where every child in Hudson County has the opportunity to enjoy the season and take a photo with Santa – completely free.  Through this event, we are honoring our commitment to service, opportunity, and supporting working families. This is about community and creating moments of happiness for our children while ensuring every family feels supported. I invite all families to join us, celebrate with us, and let Hudson County be part of your holiday tradition. We look forward to celebrating with you on December 16.”

“The Transport Works Union is proud to partner with the Hudson County Executive’s Office for this year’s holiday toy giveaway. As transportation workers, we serve the public every day, and this partnership allows us to extend that service beyond the workplace and into our communities. Hudson County has always been a place where working families look out for one another, and by joining forces with the County Executive’s Office, we can reach more children and families who deserve a little extra joy during the holiday season,” said Matt Wright, New Jersey State Chair for the Transport Workers Union of America. “This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to compassion, community service, and giving back. Together, we’re making sure that no child in Hudson County wakes up without a gift this holiday season.”

To help the County prepare age-appropriate gifts, families are encouraged to click here and register their children in advance through Eventbrite.
