The Hoboken Police Department is accepting donations for the fifth annual, Sgt. Peter Zanin “Peachy” Toy Drive. The collection will benefit hundreds of local children and teenagers at the annual Hoboken Housing Authority and Familyhood’s Winter Wonderland.  The event is  scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 13th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Residents are encouraged to drop off unwrapped, new toys, books, games, sports equipment, and other gifts for children and teens, at Hoboken Police Headquarters through December 12th.   The Police Department will also be hosting an all-day donation drive outside of headquarters on December 10th between 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.

In a statement, Police Chief Steven Aguiar said, “Every year, the police department and the community come together, to make the holidays even better and brighter for many Hoboken families.  I’m grateful to everyone who puts the time, energy, and heart into organizing this event each year, reminding us how generous Hoboken can be.”
The Hoboken Police Department’s annual toy drive was renamed for Sgt. Zanin, after he passed away five years ago on November 21, 2020.  Zanin, a father of three and a 20-year veteran of the Department, was involved in many events and initiatives that gave back to the community, including the annual Toys for Tots toy drive.
