UPDATE: 61-year old Luis Caisaguano of Jersey City died of his injuries at the Jersey City Medical Center on Wednesday, December 17th.
ORIGINAL POST: The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a crash that critically injured a pedestrian on Sunday, December 14, 2025.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, the incident happened at approximately 9:15 p.m. The Jersey City Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck in the area of Mallory and Communipaw Avenues. Responding officers located a victim, later identified as a 61-year-old male from Jersey City, with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
This matter remains under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department.
