The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating a fatal hit-and-run accident that occurred on Monday, December 29, 2025.
According to Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, at approximately 8 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a possible pedestrian being struck on Tonnelle Avenue near North Street. When responding officers arrived at the scene, they located the body of a lifeless male on the northbound side of the road. The male, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene. The striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department.
