Teenager To Be Prosecuted As Adult In Connection To 2025 Fatal Jersey City Shooting

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello, a teenager who was a juvenile at the time of a fatal shooting last year has been charged in connection with the killing of Rahmiere Morris.  Mello says the now 18-year old, has been waived up to criminal court and will be prosecuted as an adult.

Naheim King of Jersey City, 17 at the time of the shooting, is charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

A press release from the Prosecutor’s Office states, “Shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Friday, January 3, 2025, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road. A male victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – was located with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.”

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
