Prosecutor Seeks Public’s Help in Finding Man Wanted In Connection With Union City Homicide

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is seeking the public’s help in locating a 57-year-old man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Union City on Monday, March 23, 2026.

According to Prosecutor Wayne Mello, Luis Marin of North Bergen has been charged with murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and certain persons not to possess a weapon.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the defendant should not be approached.  Anyone with information regarding Marin’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or leave an anonymous tip at hcpo.org/tips.  All information will be kept confidential.

The shooting happened just after 1:50 a.m.  The Union City Police Department was notified of an altercation with shots fired in the area of Bergenline Avenue and 44th Street. Responding officers located a male victim – later identified as 42-year old David Pulgarin of North Bergen – with an apparent gunshot wound(s). He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased shortly after 2:30 a.m.
