Two Charged In Connection With Jersey City Homicide Investigation

Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello has announced that members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have arrested two individuals in relation to a double homicide that occurred in Jersey City on Monday, May 18, 2026.

25-year old Jahquan Porter of Jersey City is charged with attempted murder, a crime of the first degree; aggravated assault, a crime of the second degree; terroristic threats, a crime of the third degree; unlawful possession of a weapon, a knife, a crime of the fourth degree; and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the third degree.

Meanwhile, Angelica Manning, age 23, of Bayonne, has been charged with attempted murder as an accomplice, a crime of the first degree; aggravated assault as an accomplice, a crime of the second degree; unlawful possession of a weapon as an accomplice, a knife, a crime of the fourth degree; and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose as an accomplice, a crime of the third degree.

Porter and Manning were arrested at the Hudson County Correctional Facility where they were being detained on unrelated matters.

Prosecutor Mello says that shortly after 1 a.m., on Monday, May 18, 2026, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired in the area of 109-111 Old Bergen Road. Responding officers located two unresponsive males – later identified as Luis Quintero, 53, of Jersey City, and Kenneth Darby, 52, of Jersey City – inside a residence with apparent gunshot wounds. Both males were transported to Jersey City Medical Center where they were pronounced deceased.

The public’s help is still being sought in locating 18-year old Treshawn Daniels of Jersey City. Daniels is charged with murder, a crime of the first degree; attempted murder, a crime of the first degree; unlawful possession of a weapon, a firearm, a crime of the second degree; and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree.

During the course of the investigation, it was determined Darby was stabbed by Porter during an altercation prior to Daniels shooting both victims. Darby’s cause of death is pending with the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The above charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
