Hudson County Schools of Technology Announces Open Houses

Hudson County Schools of Technology will hold open houses at High Tech High School, County Prep High School, and the Craig Guy Center at Hudson Vocational for eighth graders interested in the district’s career and technical programs.

Thomas Macagnano, superintendent of Hudson County Schools of Technology, said the events are intended to show students the available options. “These open houses are about giving every prospective student in Hudson County a real look at the opportunities waiting for them,” he said. “Whether it’s High Tech, County Prep, or the Craig Guy Center at Hudson Vocational, we’re building bridges to opportunity and making sure every student who walks through our doors has access to the tools they need to thrive.”

Rankings and facilities

High Tech High School is ranked #17 in New Jersey and #334 nationally by U.S. News & World Report, up 22 spots from its 2025 state ranking. County Prep High School is ranked #61 in New Jersey and #1,127 nationally. The Craig Guy Center at Hudson Vocational opened recently with updated facilities for hands-on career training.

Tuesday, September 22nd, 4:30PM-7:00PM: Technology programs including Commercial Photography, Computer Science, Computer Systems Networking and Telecommunications, Graphic Design, Music Technology (Music and Audio), and Radio & TV Broadcasting Technology/Technician (Audio/Visual Production).

Thursday, September 24th, 4:30PM-7:00PM: Professional Services programs including Fashion/Apparel Design, Childcare Provider/Assistant, Cosmetology/Cosmetologist, General, Business Administration/Management, and Culinary Arts/Chef Training.

Thursday, October 1st, 4:30PM-7:00PM: Health Sciences programs including Health Services/Allied Health/Health Sciences (Medical Science) and Kinesiology and Exercise Science.

Tuesday, September 29th, 5:30PM-8:00PM: Science Academy programs in BioMedical Science and Environmental Science; Design and Fabrication Academy programs in Architecture and Design, Computer Programming, Engineering, Industrial Design & Animation, and Wood Technology.

Wednesday, September 30th, 5:30PM-8:00PM: Culinary Academy program in Culinary Arts; Media, Visual & Performing Arts Academy programs in Commercial & Advertising Arts, Interactive Media, Radio & Television Production, Dance and Theatre Arts.

Craig Guy Center at Hudson Vocational

The Craig Guy Center at Hudson Vocational is located at 669 Avenue A, Bayonne, NJ 07002.

Tuesday, October 6th, 5:00PM-7:00PM: Programs in Allied Health, Carpentry, Cosmetology, Electrical, Law Enforcement, Plumbing, and Welding.

Visitors can tour the facilities, meet faculty and students, and learn about career pathways, dual enrollment, AP courses, and the admissions process.

Applicants must be in eighth grade as of September 1, 2026. Both the student and a parent or guardian must be full-time residents of Hudson County. The district uses a single application for all programs, with placement determined by acceptance status, the selected CTE major, and academic score.
