Bayonne resident Mary Ann Kaminsky delivered a blistering account of a short-term rental property on West 42nd Street during the September 16, 2026, municipal meeting, describing it as a year-long “party house” that has turned her block into a nightly nightmare.
Kaminsky told officials the property violates the city’s 60-day annual limit on short-term rentals yet has operated continuously for a full year—equivalent, she said, to six years of allowed use.
Noise, Cars, and Safety Fears
She detailed repeated disturbances: cars blocking driveways, horns blaring at 3:30 a.m., and strangers loitering on the porch at all hours. “The police are frequently there, at least on a weekly basis,” Kaminsky stated. “My daughter’s bedroom is in the front. This is a shame that the residents have to put up with this.”
“I’m also concerned about the safety of my daughter and my granddaughter because there’s a lot of strange people out there sitting on the porch… even if there’s no cars there, there are people there.”
She urged the council to enforce the ordinance with real penalties, citing a letter from the New Jersey team as a starting point. “We really want some teeth put into this ordinance,” she said. “Please act on that. We need this done as soon as possible.”
