West New York’s Men’s Basketball League has been a huge success since Mayor Albio Sires brought it back to the Recreation Department.  On Saturday at the Middle School gymnasium, the league held a 3-point shooting competition featuring numerous group and individual contests.

The league has 110 registered participants and eleven teams.  Saturday’s event, a mid-season all-star competition, awarded Andy Rodriguez the first-ever, Mayor’s Cup trophy for accumulating the most points from several different, 3-point competitions.

Mayor Sires provided all of the tournament’s participants with T-shirts, and Outback Steakhouse sponsored the competition and provided gift cards and coupons.

The men’s league is just one of many within the town’s Recreation Department for youngsters, adults and senior citizens.  Mayor Sires and the Commissioners intend to continue providing recreational options for town residents.

The Mayor’s Cup will certainly be back in 2025.
