By a unanimous vote last night, the North Bergen Board of Education decided that when class resume on September 8th, all students will receive virtual learning throughout the district for the month of September.
The at home remote learning decision makes North Bergen the third school district in Hudson County to announce an all virtual learning schedule when school begins next month. Bayonne and Jersey City have made similar decisions.
In a letter to parents and guardians, the district says it will re-evaluate its decision, with an expectation that on October 1, it will shift to hybrid learning, a combination of remote learning from home and in-classroom instruction “provided that the data supports this decision.”
The North Bergen Board of Education website says the full Virtual/Remote Learning Plan will be announced next week. “This plan will include information regarding students’ Virtual Instruction Schedule, Expectations for Students, Parents, & Staff, Equitable Access to Technology, Special and Related Services, as well as lunch distribution.”
