Veolia reported this morning that an 8-inch main broke at 552 9th Street. That’s directly in front of Smart Start Academy between Madison and Monroe Streets.
The break was isolated fairly quickly and repair crews are working to fix the problem in order to restore water pressure for local residences and businesses.
This morning’s water main break is the third to hit the Mile Square City is the past five days. On Thanksgiving morning there was a 16-inch water main break on Observer Highway, and on Friday night into early Saturday morning, a 6-inch break caused a disruption in service, or low pressure, on Park Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets.
