Antibody Testing For Hoboken First Responders & Frontline Workers Begins Today

Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla announced on Thursday night that the City will begin antibody testing for its first responders and frontline workers today.  The details were laid out in the following press release:

I’m very pleased to announce Hoboken will launch antibody testing tomorrow for first responders and frontline workers at the 7^th and Jackson gymnasium, thanks to a partnership with Dr. Javed Islam from Prompt MD and Power Analytics. The antibody testing site will become available to the public next week, with appointments required through an online form which we will share closer to the launch. Hoboken will become one of the first rapid, antibody testing sites in the region, with results available in 10 minutes of taking the test.

While a positive test may not indicate full immunity, those that take the test will have the peace of mind of knowing whether or not they had COVID-19, and also have the opportunity to donate plasma to assist those currently with COVID-19. I’m proud that Hoboken will soon become one of the few cities in the region to offer both COVID-19 tests and antibody tests for residents. Increasing testing is one critical benchmark to eventually re-open our region when it is safe to do so, and I’m glad that Hoboken is doing its part.
