Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that 33-year old, North Bergen resident Albert Morales has been arrested in connection Sunday’s fatal shooting in Hoboken in which 21-year old, Damon Murray, a Hoboken High School graduate and former Rutgers University football player, was shot and killed.

Morales is charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of weapon.   Morales was arrested in Chicopee, Massachusetts today, Tuesday, April 30, 2024, by members of the Massachusetts State Police and will remain in custody pending extradition to New Jersey.

According to a press release from the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, “Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 28, 2024, the Hoboken Police Department received a report of shots fired in the area of 320 Marshall Drive. Responding officers located a crime scene outside the building.  A 21-year-old male, later identified as Damon Murray, of Hoboken, was transported by a private auto to Jersey City Medical Center with an apparent gunshot wound to the abdomen.  He was pronounced dead just after 12 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024.”

The charges against Morales are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
