On that date and time, Amato says officers in the area were alerted by multiple parties of the shooting that had just occurred and were able to observe a bullet hole in the window of an area business.  As officers were investigating, other officers were directed by multiple witnesses to two apparent victims of the shooting, a 19-year old male and a 26-year old male, in the area standing next to their vehicle that displayed a bullet hole in the front windshield.

According to the victims, before the shooting, they pulled up to the area and the 19-year old victim exited the vehicle and entered a convenience store to purchase a drink.  While inside, he was approached by three unknown males who began a verbal altercation with him.  The victim ignored the three males, completed his purchase, and exited the store.  As he walked toward his vehicle, the three males exited the store and one male, later identified as Juvenile 1, brandished a handgun and fired two shots in his direction, one shot striking the windshield of the vehicle.  The-19 year old victim then fled as did the three unknown males.

Captain Amato says the Bayonne Police Detective Bureau immediately began an investigation and were able to positively identify Juvenile 1 as the shooter.  On Saturday, as a result of the investigation, Juvenile 1 responded to Police Headquarters were he was placed into custody and charged accordingly.  It should be noted that the bullets recovered from the scene were determined to be hollow point bullets.

The juvenile faces charges of endangering another person, possession of certain bullets, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a firearm, two counts of criminal attempted murder and two counts of aggravated assault.
