FRANCO RELEASES THIRD CAMPAIGN AD
‘Protecting Bayonne Lives’
BAYONNE, N.J. — City council candidate, Peter Franco, releases third campaign video “Protecting Bayonne Lives,” where he calls for accountability with Bayonne water system operator, Suez.
The video opens with, “In 2018, a four-alarm fire claimed the life of a young Bayonne resident, Ruvee Yao.”
A tort claim notice filed by Ruvee’s mother against the city of Bayonne, read “there was no water in the fire hydrant when the fire department arrived, causing them to waste time to utilize a farther fire hydrant.“ [See Attached]
Bayonne Fire Chief Weaver, told the Jersey Journal, “there are up to 30 hydrants in the city not working at any given time, likely because of age.”
Weaver also mentioned Suez is responsible for these repairs.
The video closes with “Holding Suez accountable isn’t just about water rates, it’s about protecting our environment. It’s about public safety, it’s about protecting Bayonne lives.”
In a statement, Franco said, “A bright young woman might still be alive today if not for the negligence of Suez and our city’s failed oversight.”
Franco continued, “My heart goes out to Ruvee’s mother Ruth, her family, and our brave fire fighters… We owe it to every Bayonne resident to ensure there isn’t a single fire hydrant out of order.”
Franco concluded, “Now more than ever Bayonne needs an independent councilman who will fight to hold Suez and other contractors accountable.”
The 37 second video can be found below and is scheduled to debut today on all social media platforms.
