Bayonne Man Arrested For Stabbing Incident

A 54-year old Bayonne man has been arrested for stabbing a 48-year old man inside a residential home near Broadway and 31st Street on Monday night.

According to Captain Eric Amato, Joseph Matusaitis of Avenue C was taken into custody at 2:43 yesterday morning after a report that a man had been stabbed in the face.  When officers arrived at the scene they found a man, later identified as Matusaitis, seated on a bench outside of the home.

Other police officers entered the home and found the victim with facial lacerations.  The man confirmed he had been stabbed by Matusaitis using a kitchen knife.

The assailant was arrested and taken to the Hudson County Jail in Kearny, charged with aggravated assault, possession for a weapon an unlawful purpose and the unlawful possession of a weapon.

The victim was treated at the Bayonne Medical Center for his facial injuries.
