This afternoon, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced that a 32-year-old Bayonne man has been arrested in connection with the January 23, 2022 fatal shooting of Rasheen Bostick in Jersey City. Nysheed Gleaton has been charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon.
He was arrested early this morning by the Wallington Police Department. He was in possession of a handgun.
Prosecutor Suarez says on Sunday, January 23 at approximately 12:28 p.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to a shooting in the area of 32 Belmont Avenue. Responding officers found a male – later identified as Rasheen Bostick, with an apparent gunshot wound to his torso. He was transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:55 p.m.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department continue to investigate the fatal shooting. Prosecutor Suarez thanked the United States Marshals Service and the Wallington Police Department for their assistance.
The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
