Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello released the following information today pertaining to the sentencing of a man involved in a 2022 shooting:
On Thursday, August 14, 2025, the Honorable Daniel DeSalvo, J.S.C. sentenced a Bayonne man to 38 years in New Jersey State Prison in connection with a non-fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City in 2022.
33-year old Elijah Wilson was convicted at trial of attempted murder; aggravated assault; unlawful possession of a weapon; possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose; and certain persons not to have a weapon. Wilson was sentenced to 30 years in New Jersey State Prison for attempted murder, which will run consecutive to an 8-year sentence for the certain persons not to have a weapon conviction.
The charges stemmed from the nonfatal shooting that took place on November 5, 2022, in Jersey City in the area of Clinton Avenue and West Side Avenue.
The State was represented in this matter by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Erica Bertuzzi.
