Bayonne Narcotics & Gun Possession Arrests

Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato has announced the arrests of four people over the past several days for various narcotics and weapons possession charges.

On Thursday, May 21, 25-year old Omar Greene of Mt. Pleasant Avenue in Newark was arrested at 8:15 a.m. in the area of West 53rd Street.  He was charged with the possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana.  He was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Center in Kearny.

The following day, May 22, 31-year old Ian S. Faulkener of Berkley Terrace in Irvington and 26-year old Jonathan M. Hood of Girard Avenue in East Orange, were taken into custody at 1:36 a.m. near the corner of 43rd Street and Avenue C.  Both individuals were charged with possession of 50 grams or less of marijuana, intent to distribute, plus intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property.

During the process of being arrested, Hood gave the arresting officer a false name, so he was additionally charged with obstruction of a governmental function.

Both men were taken to the Hudson County Jail.

Finally, on Saturday, May 23, 41-year old Amir M. Fam of 70th Avenue in Ridgewood, New York, was arrested at 9 o’clock in the morning near Broadway and 21st Street.  According to Captain Amato, police arrived in the area after receiving a report of a fight involving the use of a knife.  Upon arrival, the fight had already ended, with both parties having separated.  Police did notice a man, later identified as Fam, holding a sharp object.

When police told him to drop the object, he did.  Police identified the object as a long, silver nail.  During their investigation, police determined Fam had approached the victim, a 61-year old male, as he was about to enter a store and began yelling at him while he was swinging the nail at him.

Although Fam never struck the victim with the nail, police did discover that Fam was wanted on two, outstanding warrants, one from Bayonne and the other from Point Pleasant.

Fam was taken to the Hudson County Jail, charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and the two warrants.
