Bayonne Narcotics Investigation Seizes Cocaine and Marijuana Plus Results in Two Arrests

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reports that on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, two people were arrested in Bayonne following an investigation by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Bayonne Police Department. 

During the course of the investigation, Suarez says more than 180 grams of suspected cocaine, more than three pounds of suspected marijuana, multiple quantities of Alprazolam and Oxycodone pills and more than $3,000 in suspected proceeds from narcotics transactions were recovered.

Numerous transactions were conducted with an undercover officer during the investigation, which included the sale of illegal narcotics and an illegal firearm.

The two individuals arrested are both Bayonne residents; 29-year old Giovanny Alfaro and Jamie Juarez-Castillo, age 23.  They were arrested without incident on Avenue C.

The extensive charges against the defendants are as follows:

Alfaro is charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, a crime of the first degree; four counts of possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, a crime of the second degree; possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, a crime of the third degree; two counts of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, a crime of the second degree; four counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a crime of the third degree; four counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of public property, a crime of the second degree; possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, a crime of the third degree; possession with the intent to distribute Oxycodone, a second degree crime; possession with the intent to distribute Oxycodone, a third degree crime; three counts of possession with the intent to distribute Alprazolam, a third degree crime; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the second degree; unlawful possession of a weapon (firearm), a crime of the second degree; possession of a weapon (firearm) for an unlawful purpose, a crime of the second degree; unlawful disposition of a firearm, a crime of the fourth degree; and money laundering, a crime of the third degree.

Meanwhile, Juarez-Castillo is charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, a crime of the second degree; possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, a crime of the third degree; possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, a crime of the third degree; two counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 1,000 feet of a school, a crime of the third degree; two counts of possession with the intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance within 500 Feet of public property, a crime of the second degree; possession with the intent to distribute Oxycodone, a second degree crime; possession with the intent to distribute Oxycodone, a third degree crime; three counts of possession with the intent to distribute Alprazolam, a third degree crime; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, a crime of the second degree; and money laundering, a crime of the third degree.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Bayonne Police Department with the investigation and arrests.

These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
