Bayonne Police Kept Busy on Sunday With Various Offenses

Bayonne assault and arrest

Bayonne Police Captain Eric Amato reports officers were kept pretty busy by numerous actors committing various offenses on Sunday.

It began at 10:38 am when a female, who works at the C-Town at 782 Broadway, told police she was punched numerous times  in the face by another female who was attempting to shoplift items from the store.    The actor fled the scene.  No arrest has been made as of this writing.

Then, 18 minutes later, Captain Amato says 36-year old Jesse S. Sipes of Avenue A in Bayonne, was taken into custody near 10th Street and Broadway for a narcotics violation.  He has been charged with heroin possession.

Then at 5:40 on Sunday afternoon, Azeez Powell, a 40-year old male from Bayside Place in Jersey City, was taken into custody near 5th Street and Avenue C.  A warrant for his arrest, stemming from an incident on October 2 at 6:35 am, had been issued.  At that time a female walking her dogs near 5th and Newman Avenue, reported a man, later determined to be Powell, approached her from behind.

Amato reports the man passed her, stopped and turned around to face the female.  He then exposed himself to her and fled.

A Detective Bureau investigation led police to a positive identification and Powell was arrested and charged with lewdness.

Finally, at 10 past 10 last night, police arrested 30-year old Isai Class for DWI.  Class, a resident of Kelly Parkway in Bayonne, was stopped by police at Hobart Avenue and Linnett Street.
